Jenny DeSimone – Director & Head Coach
Jenny DeSimone is a National and International Synchronized Skating Coach, and has been involved in synchronized skating for over 20 years. Prior to joining DC EDGE in 2008, she coached with the Evolution and Gems on Ice Synchronized Skating Programs in Michigan, coaching beginner through senior level teams. Her teams have earned numerous National and Sectional medals across all divisions. Jenny holds a Master PSA Synchronized Team Rating and has a Level IV Ranking, and is currently a Learn to Skate and private lesson instructor at Cabin John and Wheaton Ice Arenas. As a skater, Jenny was a six-time National competitor. Jenny previously coached with the Capitol Steps Synchronized Skating teams, and currently serves as a choreographer and consultant for teams in the Washington DC area. Jenny graduated from the College of William and Mary with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Marketing.
Libby Rhoads joined DC EDGE as a skater on the Adult team in 2009, and joined the coaching staff in 2010. Through her time with Miami University Varsity Synchronized Skating she was a US National and International competitor in synchronized skating, a member of Team USA and a member of the 2001 World Team. She served as Director of Skating for Goggin Ice Center in Oxford, OH from 2002-2007 and was the head coach of the Oxford Ice Crystals Synchronized Skating Teams from 2004-2007. More recently, she has served as a coach and consultant with the Capitol Steps Synchronized Skating Teams. Libby is PSA Master Rated in Team, Certified Rated in Group and Registered Rated in Moves in the Field. She is a Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field and Dance. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education and a M.Ed in Curriculum & Teacher Leadership from Miami University and a M.A.T. in Museum Education from George Washington University.
Lyn Linke Witt has skated with the DC EDGE Masters team (formerly Ice Force One) since 2007, and joined the coaching staff in 2009. In 2006, Lyn helped start a Beginner Synchronized Skating program at the Chevy Chase Club in Chevy Chase, Maryland. By 2008, under Lyn's direction, the program had grown from one to three teams. Lyn currently coaches at Cabin John Ice Arena and holds her Registered PSA Synchro, Freestyle, and Moves in the Field Ratings, and her Certified Group Rating. She enjoys coaching all ages and levels of skaters. She is a graduate of Elon University and holds a degree in Communications. Lyn is also a mother of three children.
Kim Eddy has been skating with the DC EDGE Adult Team since 2009. She created, skated for and currently coaches the University of Maryland Terrapins Synchronized Skating Team. Kim teaches learn to skate and private lessons at Wells Ice Rink, where she also directs the spring skating show. She is a member of the Professional Skaters Association. Kim has a degree in Biology and a Masters of Education, both from University of Maryland, College Park. She teaches high school science at the Homewood Center.
Kristin Huppi has been skating with the DC EDGE Adult time since 2009, and she joined the coaching staff in 2012. She previously coached with Team Ashburn. Kristin teaches Learn to Skate classes and private lessons at the Ashburn Ice House, and is a member of the Professional Skaters Association. She graduated from Duke University with a Doctor in Physical Therapy and from Virginia Tech with a degree in Biology. Kristin is also a Certified Strength and Conditional Specialist.
Christine Burke has been involved with synchronized skating for over 10 years, as a skater, and more recently, as an assistant coach with Pentagon Intercollegiate team. She continues to skate as a member of the DC EDGE Adult team, and joined the coaching staff in 2009. Christine teaches Learn to Skate group classes and private lessons at the Wheaton Ice Arena, and is a member of the Professional Skaters Association. She graduated from George Washington University with a Masters degree in Forensic Science and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Elyse Lerman joined DC EDGE as a skater on the Adult team in 2010, and joined the coaching staff in 2011. She has been involved in synchronized skating for almost 20 years. She skated for the Crystallettes, Team Élan, and the University of Michigan. She has coached group classes and private lessons. She was the assistant coach of the University of Michigan Senior and Collegiate teams, and is a member of the Professional Skaters Association. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and a M.A. in Education from the University of Michigan. She is currently an elementary school teacher in Virginia.
Shira Selis has been skating on synchronized skating teams for the past 16 years. She joined the coaching staff of DC EDGE in 2011. She previously served as a coach for the Capitol Steps Synchronized Skating Teams, and Chevy Chase Club Synchro. She is currently a coach at Cabin John Ice Arena, and is a member of the Professional Skaters Association. Shira graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelors in Health Behavior Management, and a minor in Figure Skating Science.
Katie Huppi has been skating on the DC EDGE Adult team since 2010, and joined the coaching staff in 2012. She previously coached with Team Ashburn. Katie teaches Learn to Skate classes and private lessons at Ashburn Ice House, and is a member of the Professional Skaters Association. She graduated from Tulane University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology.
