Ingrid Benson

Ingrid Benson has over 14 years of competitive synchronized skating experience, competing with the Colonials for 10 years before attending Miami University and competing on their junior, collegiate, and senior varsity teams. She was a member of Team USA for six seasons and competed at the 2011 and 2013 World Championships. After graduating from Miami, Ingrid worked at U.S. Figure Skating in the Athlete High Performance Department for nine years before moving to Washington, DC in 2022. She holds a Bachelors in International Studies and History with a minor in French.

Kennedy Briggs

Coach Kennedy has been coaching for over 9 years, and has worked with regional, sectional, and national competitors in both freestyle and synchronized skating. Kennedy hails from North Carolina, and prior to coming to DC EDGE, Kennedy coached with Carolina Formation. Kennedy is a former freestyle and collegiate competitor, and recently competed as an open adult synchronized skater. She is a moves in the field gold medalist, has passed her US Figure Skating Junior Freeskate test, and is a spins specialist. Kennedy is a member of PSA and holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and German from University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Kennedy also coaches private lessons and LTS at Wheaton/Cabin John. 

Amanda Catron

Amanda joined the DC EDGE coaching staff in 2014. She previously coached with Sparklers Synchronized Skating Teams in Frederick, Maryland for 8 years. Amanda was the co-founder of the Sparklers, and watched the program grow from one team to six teams. She is a skating professional at Skate Frederick, in Frederick, Maryland, where she teaches learn to skate and private lessons. She is a member of the Professional Skaters Association. Amanda is the mom of three kids, one of whom skates for DC EDGE.

Jessica Chaffee

Jessica Chaffee skated for Team Braemar, Team Elan, Miami University, and with DC EDGE Adult (from 2016-2019, & 2022-present). She has been coaching since 2003, most recently as the Director at Richmond Synchro. Jessica coaches private lessons of all levels at Wheaton Ice Arena and Chevy Chase Club, as well as LTS classes at both rinks. She is a member of the Professional Skaters Association and holds Basic Accreditation status. Jessica has three children, two rescue pups, and lives in Falls Church VA. 

Dana Hall

Dana Hall has over 22 years of competitive synchronized skating experience and skated on almost every level USFS has to offer. She has been a Team USA member for over 12 seasons and is a 3x World Team member with Skyliners Senior from 2018-2020. Dana has coached Nationally and Internationally with Adrian College Senior & Collegiate teams, and most recently with Eastern Elite Novice and Intermediate. She is a member of PSA and holds Gold tests in Skating Skills (Moves in the Field), Dance, and Solo Free Dance. Dana holds a B.S. in Athletic Training and is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer.

Emily Hollander

Emily Hollander has been coaching synchronized skating since 2003. She was a member of Team USA for 17 years, competing nationally and internationally at the senior level. Emily is a 3-time World Team Competitor. She has coached synchro skills through senior level teams. She has her gold level in moves and dance, plus several international dances and junior freestyle. Emily teaches private and group lessons at Cabin John, and is a mom to two children.

Kristin Huppi

Kristin Huppi has been skating with the DC EDGE Adult team since 2009, and she joined the coaching staff in 2012. She previously coached with Team Ashburn. Kristin teaches Learn to Skate classes and private lessons at the Ashburn Ice House, and is a member of the Professional Skaters Association. She graduated from Duke University with a Doctor in Physical Therapy and from Virginia Tech with a degree in Biology. Kristin is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. 

Elyse Lerman

Elyse Lerman joined DC EDGE as a skater on the Adult team in 2010, and joined the coaching staff in 2011. She has been involved in synchronized skating for over 20 years. She skated for the Crystallettes, Team Élan, and the University of Michigan. She has coached group classes and private lessons. She was the assistant coach of the University of Michigan Senior and Collegiate teams and is a member of the Professional Skaters Association. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and a M.A. in Education from the University of Michigan. She is currently an elementary school teacher in Virginia.

Shannon Mondares

Shannon Monardes, an Illinois native, started skating at 3 years old and competed in Synchronized Skating for 10 years through the Junior level. She was a part of Team USA for 3 years and is a World Bronze Medalist, as well as a 3-time National Champion at the Junior level. She also skates for the DC EDGE adult and masters teams and loves to compete. Shannon teaches private and group lessons at Skate Frederick in Frederick, Maryland. Shannon holds a degree in Paralegal Studies, loves to read, run, and spend time with her 2 daughters.

Libby Rhoads

Prior to being part of the DC EDGE coaching team, Libby was a member of the Miami University Varsity Synchronized Skating teams, a U.S. National and International competitor in synchronized skating, a member of Team USA, and a member of the 2001 World Team. Since joining DC EDGE in 2010, Libby has coached a variety of team levels at the international, national and sectional level. Libby is PSA Master Rated in Team, Certified Rated in Group, and Registered Rated in Moves in the Field. She is a Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field and Dance. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education and a M.Ed in Curriculum & Teacher Leadership from Miami University and a M.A.T. in Museum Education from The George Washington University. When not at an ice rink, Libby is the Public Programs Supervisor at the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C.

Dina Sapiro

Dina Sapiro has 12 years of competitive synchronized skating experience, and grew up skating on DC EDGE starting at Beginner 3 and ending on Junior. She went on to skate for the University of Michigan Synchronized Skating Teams at the Collegiate level and has won 2 U.S. National Championships. She is excited to be back with the DC EDGE organization both skating and as a coach. She is a member of PSA and is a triple gold medalist in Moves in the Field, Senior Solo Free Dance, and Dance. Dina earned her degree from University of Michigan in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) with a minor in Medical Anthropology. 

Shira Selis

Shira Selis has been skating on synchronized skating teams for the past 16 years. She joined the coaching staff of DC EDGE in 2011. She previously served as a coach for the Capitol Steps Synchronized Skating Teams and Chevy Chase Club Synchro. She is currently a coach at Cabin John Ice Arena and is a member of the Professional Skaters Association. Shira graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelors in Health Behavior Management, and a minor in Figure Skating Science.
